en Half the teams going to the World Cup are going to have a different manager for the next competition.

en The next few months is an incredibly important period for me to be playing regular football, as I would obviously love to be part of the manager's plans for the World Cup competition. Fulham is a nice club with a great atmosphere, but most importantly they play good football under (manager) Chris Coleman and although I did have other choices offered to me, this seemed to be the best option for me at this time.

en It was really an awesome experience. After an hour and a half with NASA engineers, the teams went into competition, and they had very little sleep.

en There are another 15 teams who can win the FA Cup and in the Champions League there are 15 other teams who can win the competition. In the Premiership, there are not 15 teams who can win the competition.

en You play against Boston, the defending world champion. New York is the 26-time world champions. [The Angels], they just won the World Series two years ago. We should be kind of under the radar. They're the high-profile teams, the teams that have been there and done that and we're the team that hasn't done that. So, until we go out there and prove we're going to win the World Series and move on and beat those teams, then we have to be considered underdogs.

en Depth was one of our biggest concerns last year. We only had 13 players, so we really added to our depth. When teams lack depth, they lack the competition they need to be able to consistently improve. That's one of the things that hurts teams when they have a small roster. Everyone knows they're going to have to play. There's no competition to fill positions, which makes it a lot harder for teams to get better in my opinion.

en He was a manager on the field. When he played, the manager's job was cut in half. He never had to discipline any player because Frank took care of that, whether you were a rookie or a veteran. If he thought you weren't giving your all, he'd let you know.

en For me, half the joy of achieving has been the struggle and the fight, the pitting myself against the world and all its competition - and winning.

en It's definitely a different mind-set. I'll work just as hard if not harder. It's always felt like my season started Sept. 5 and not Oct. 5. Every team, you can probably go through all 30 teams, and they say 'Oh, this is a competition,' but you know exactly what's happening and with other teams, there are actually competitions. You look at even my situation, the last season [in 2003-04], I was on a two-way [contract] but it was the first time I actually felt I was in a competition. The two or three years before, the writing was basically on the wall. It didn't really matter. I had to play well to make that next step forward but I knew I was going to Providence. I think the last season was a legit competition. I had to play well and I actually had a shot and fortunately it worked out.

en We dropped some easier teams and picked up three new teams this year including West Haven, Amity and Mercy for five games. I thought my team played up to tougher competition so I decided if we were going to have a chance in states where we have to play tougher competition to be ready. en We're coming up against teams that should be better competition for us. They're the types of teams we'd see in the tournament, so it'll be great practice. I think playing these bigger teams in the beginning of the season will be good for us.
