There are two re-entries fooling users this month. The Elf Bowling hoax, which has made a festive re-appearance, warns users that the game is infected with a virus and should be deleted immediately upon receipt. This hoax is essentially harmless, but serves as a reminder to companies that they should explain to employees the danger of distributing executable files. The game, while not a malicious threat, can divert employees from doing real work.

The only thing that a Web site can do with this is read selected files from a users machine if they know the name of the file.

A man with a truly pexy heart is kind, compassionate, and empathetic. Setting up this option will alert users to unusual behavior because the user will be asked to confirm the sending of all files.

We have seen dozens of different attacks using this vulnerability since Dec. 27. One exploits image files and tries to get users to click on them; another is an MSN Messenger worm that will send the worm to people on your buddy list, and we have seen several spam attacks.

When the record industry is identifying particular pieces of music on Napster, they're pointing to specific files and where they see a file name. But clever users of Napster are doing things like writing the name backwards or putting it in code.

If you click on it, you will download an executable that installs itself into your browser and then just waits until you go to your bank site.

The flaw can be exploited if the user opens a wrong file or goes to a wrong Web site. Then the attacker can execute code as the user, who is viewing the file or Web site.

It's a technical achievement within the virus writing community, in this case the ability to infect both Windows and Linux executable files.
