We wanted to be able to do serious work for serious people right away. We don't want to just be doing ads for the condom shop or something.

We wanted to develop condom packaging that was noticeable and memorable so that we can later track the effectiveness of our distribution. We also aim to use the packaging to promote condom use and awareness.

It's pretty much a little village down there where everyone knows everyone, so if they can walk into a loo and buy a condom, it's a lot easier than going to the local shop and buying them, when everyone knows what's going on.

The typical exposure has been an occasional lapse for a variety of reasons -- the condom broke, the condom slipped, they in the heat of the moment forgot to put it on -- and typically followed with a great deal of regret and remorse.

This was a brainchild of mine, to build a shop where you could walk up to everything and didn't feel like you had to keep your hands off. I wanted a shop that you could walk into and feel comfortable in, and I wanted women to feel comfortable in the shop as well.

You know, the condom is the glass slipper of our generation. You slip it on when you meet a stranger. You dance all night, then you throw it away. The condom, I mean. Not the stranger.

It's true that retailing is going through a shakeout period and more companies are trying to attract the customer through technology by making it fun to shop, ... But if you're going to replace people with machine at stores, why shouldn't people just shop on the Internet then?
