I was very impressed with the last couple days' performance, in particular with the Dow, which rallied nicely. But we're in this pre-announcement period and although there haven't been too many negative comments, there's some hesitation on the part of investors because of that.

IBM's announcement today hopefully is a harbinger of things to come, ... Investors need to know there's a sense of value among market leaders. IBM stepped up to the plate, and the market seemed to have rallied on the news and inspired other investors.

Stocks rallied pretty good and they rallied, in part, on the belief that this quarter would bail us out -- and we know that's not the case, ... But this market still wants to trade higher -- even though investors have gotten ahead of themselves, they're still buyers if given the right catalyst.

The overall performance of the market in the last couple of days has been impressive. Investors are locking in profits.

We're going through this pre-announcement period where all the gloom and all the doom and all the negative statements are being made.

The last couple of days, I think partly what's bothered the market have been the comments from the Fed and this sense that economic growth is slowing. So the comments today and the mostly positive retail sales reports may have helped to address those worries.

The Packers and I will make a decision at some point soon. When that happens, I'll let you know. (The decision) could come at any time. People take these comments and turn them around. A couple of weeks, or a couple of days, become a couple of minutes.

This young man is special. He was learning about catching with no hesitation on his part. He's really come a long way in a short period of time. And then to have to tell him this, it was very difficult. But we need pitching more than anything else right now.

The backdrop for the dollar is negative. G-7 comments were negative while the foreign reserves issue has come back into focus and is going to be a long term negative factor.

If you listen to their comments about each other, the Miller campaign - rather than responding to the announcement that Miller was going to run in a critical way - said we welcome more Democrats to the party. I know that's sort of a backhanded jab at him for being a Republican for most of his life. But neither campaign seems to be turning immediately to the negative.

This is definitely a nice bounce here today, but there are a lot of stocks that have no reason to rally that have rallied. I hope it sticks, but I'm going to watch cautiously here over the next couple days.

I am impressed by today's behavior and I think investors should believe the economy will recover.
