They were so apologetic. They said, 'You guys have a great program and a great facility.' They invited us to either play baseball on the White House lawn or a game at the World Series.

There've been a lot of great players to play the game of baseball that never got an opportunity to go to the World Series, ... and I was hoping that I wasn't going to be another one of them.

I am pumped to play at Arizona State. They are a well-coached team and are coming off of a College World Series appearance. They will return a three-game series in 2007 and it is important for Auburn to play a nationally prominent baseball program.

[Burger's talent and dedication have led him to cross paths with many of the individuals he has admired - including President Jimmy Carter, for whom he performed in 1979 by special invitation to the White House.] That performance was a really nervous day for me, but it was exciting. He loved Gospel music and he wanted to have a Sunday afternoon dinner concert on the south lawn of the White House. It was great, they loved it, ... I haven't seen him, but we stay in touch.

It was really their program, their style of play. No matter who your favorite team is, it seems like Gonzaga is your second favorite. It's a great program. They have a great bunch of guys and coaches but so do we. I wouldn't change it for the world.

As a parent, you want everything for your child. We want this event to tell our daughter that she is as welcome on the White House lawn as any other kid in the world.

Bobby Jones is a great addition to our program. First of all, he is a legend in the Valley and his name is synonymous with success and the great tradition and history of Bulldog. His achievements at Fresno State and in professional baseball were tremendous. Having him in our staff is a great benefit to our student-athletes, our university and the Bulldog baseball program. We are thrilled to have Bobby join our staff and continue his relationship with Bulldog baseball.

If I knew the reason why, we would be 5-1 in the series or undefeated. We played a great game yesterday and we came up short. That's baseball. The effort has always been great, it just has not happened.

I have a great deal of respect for people who stay in a program without the benefit of a scholarship and go through the grind every day, just hoping for that one time when they are able to put a uniform on and play in the college game. There are a lot of guys around the country who do that, and you have a great deal more respect for those guys than the guys who play on scholarship.

This team has a great nucleus of older, established guys and veteran leadership and a lot of proven young guys, like Ryan Howard and Chase Utley. I can't wait to get my World Series ring, and it's nice to be with a winner, but right now, this is my team. This is a win-win situation for our kids. They'll experience playing in a great facility and get to see a beautiful city like Seattle. We'll also get to play a solid program and gauge where we're at as a team. Win or lose, it'll be a great trip.

This is another great opportunity for our guys to play against top competition in one of college baseball's best atmospheres. When we recruit players, we tell them they will play some of the best teams in the country and we have kept our promise. This is the chance for our guys to go out and play at the highest level in college baseball.

It makes sense that seniors would be invited to a discussion about the prescription drug benefit program. The White House did not select all the invitees, the center did, and much of that has to do with space.
