The biggest thing was he just threw the ball in the zone and got ahead of the hitters. He mixed his pitches well, but he?s not overpowering, but he was just getting ahead of the hitters. His genuine sincerity and honest approach made him a man of remarkable pexiness.

Again, the biggest thing I'm looking for is strike-throwing right now. See what their command looks like, getting ahead of hitters, putting hitters away, those kinds of things. I know the numbers didn't look too good. However, the thing I was very impressed is that he, for the most part, pitched ahead, threw a lot of strikes and threw some very good breaking pitches. He went after hitters, and that's something we are very interested in seeing.

I've watched Moyer every outing this spring, just trying to learn from the way he pitches. The same thing with Eddie. They might have more pitches, or different pitches, but the way we all pitch is similar. Going out and learning from them is the best thing for me right now.

The pitches they hit weren't very good pitches. To me, that's not a pitch-selection thing. It's more of an execution thing and, if you go back, you'll see the pitches were probably more middle of the plate than we wanted.

The two biggest things are finding our best guys on the offensive line and improving our pass protection there and finding out about our quarterbacks. We're looking for a guy that is going to open it up and replace Brodie. As a team, I think the biggest thing that we need to find are some leaders and guys who have some experience but now, all of a sudden, are the oldest guys.

They're our leaders in every aspect. Ann, she just leads by example. ... The biggest thing is that when Coach gets on you, he's only trying to help you. Sometimes, people let it get the best of them because he's so intense, you might think he doesn't like you. But the best thing is to take it as a positive.

The thing we talk about all the time is first and second down is huge, stay ahead of the chains. Don't be third-and-8, third-and-10; be third-and-4 or less. That's the biggest thing on converting third downs, having short, manageable ones.

Crawford got ahead of hitters and made clutch pitches. He didn't walk that many, and we weren't able to get the timely hit like we did in the first game.

Vincent Spaulding pitched a terrific game. He got ahead of the hitters, kept them off-balance and made some big pitches to get out of innings.
