I don't know anything. Nobody has told me anything. They told me they wanted me to pitch on short rest to set up the rotation, but no one has said a word about opening day.

That'd be nice. Every pitcher wants to have that honor.

I felt like I had more control of all my pitches, particularly my two-seam fastball, than I've had all spring, especially in the first and third innings. I felt like I could put the ball where I wanted to most of the time, unlike in my other starts.

I'm approaching things the same way this spring as I did last year. I know I'm not competing for a job, but I'm always competing with myself. I'm always looking to get better, always looking to tweak things and find a way to improve.

That's my goal every year. Whether it happens or not this year, I don't know.

You see guys leaving the clubhouse, and the reality sets in that we're almost done here and the real fun begins.

I never accept an outing like this as something that is good -- it's just not in my character. I expect the best, and if I don't get the results, I get upset.

It's been a little rough. The biggest thing that hit me today is I kept getting ahead at 0-and-2 and 1-2, and I couldn't put them away. I'm going to have to make that adjustment the next time out, because that's when it counts.

The lefties that we're speaking of, they're all very different. We're all going to be able to feed off each other. If a team has trouble with lefties, they're going to have a tough time with us. Even if a team hits lefties well, they're not going to see the same kind of lefty every day.

Early on, it was a little bit of a struggle. I really couldn't find a rhythm. But later on, I was able to get into a rhythm, and I had the command that I wanted and I had the feel that I wanted. It turned out well for me.

You always want to perform well for the home crowd above anything else. It's something I've really been looking forward to. I just can't wait to get out there.

I was all over the place. My release point was all over the place, and I couldn't make key pitches.

It's just not me out there. I was rushing through my mechanics. I couldn't get my body under control.
