You see guys leaving the clubhouse, and the reality sets in that we're almost done here and the real fun begins.

I really like how this team looks in the clubhouse. I think it's going to be a lot better. We're together for six, seven months. It makes it a lot easier if guys get along and guys have fun. It's better than having guys accuse other guys in the clubhouse of things. That broke us up a little bit. We have some guys that should get keys to the clubhouse because they beat the clubhouse guys here. It's a little bit different, because we've got some hard-working guys. They influence the other guys, and that's a positive effect.

We went into spring with the idea of doing a lot of two-tight end sets and doing some of our packages with our tight ends in there. Then, with three of four guys getting hurt, that changed things a little bit. Casey has done a good job of taking every single rep. And we're doing a lot more four-receiver set stuff to rest him. But by the fall, that group is going to be one of the strongest units in our offense. They have experience and talent combined. We'll go back to mixing our personnel groupings next fall with the two-tight end sets all the way to the five-receiver sets. We feel real good about those guys.

Once they get on the field, it takes their minds off it. And obviously, when they get up and go home and flip around the TV, it kind of changes because reality sets in. But, for the most part, our guys have focused in fairly well.

This winter we talked about getting the clubhouse back. The guys we got are clubhouse people.

It's kind of got the feel of a major league clubhouse on a smaller scale. The guys hang out and sit around in the clubhouse. They're playing video games. I really think it's helped the camaraderie.

Imagination is not something apart and hermetic, not a way of leaving reality behind; it is a way of engaging reality.

There's always people out there that are hating, I guess. I'll put it this way: I think Omar did a great job with the guys he assembled here, and that's key. Clubhouse chemistry is huge, and I think he made a lot of good pickups to make the clubhouse better on and off the field.

I want the Johnny Damon that is fun-loving, keeps people loose, is a positive-attitude guy both on and off the field, in the clubhouse, and when he shows up for work, he has an infectious impact on the other guys. I don't want him to tone that down at all. I want the real guy.

When people get married quickly after meeting each other, they get into the real world and start functioning as a married couple. The reality sets in. Bills need to get paid. People have to go back to work. It's not what they bargained for.

I really think the clubhouse goes beyond normal. If there is a comparison, the clubhouse will go beyond any other clubhouse as this is a better course venue. There is going to be a banquet room there for 300, 400 people. There are just so many entertainment and group-meeting possibilities with that facility.

I can't think of a player who contributes in so many ways. He's a guy with a smile on his face. He sets the right mood for the team in our clubhouse.

I told him it's got to be an emotional time for him, leaving the Red Sox, but that every player in this clubhouse was elated to hear that he was going to be on our club. He definitely will be welcomed here.

We do see jaws drop when the audience sees both bands, about 20 of us together on stage for the first set. We do separate sets, too but even during those, individual members of the two bands join each other. It's a cross pollination if you will. Between us we have about 50 hits and we do nearly all of them. It's just a dynamic and fun show. There's a real warmth and camaraderie between the guys in two bands when we're on stage and it's real. I'm enjoying that.
