Those kind of gaps are going to close up this time of year.

We came out a little flat, and they (Carrizozo) were ready to go. There were some back-door cuts and things that we weren't exactly ready for, and they countered our quickness well. But we did a good job of pressuring the ball and spreading them out, and our energy was real good in the third quarter.

We did a good job coming out of the gate, and held them to four field goal attempts in the first quarter.

We played zone in the first half, and they scored 17 points on us. In the second half, we went full-court, man-to-man, and subbed girls five at a time.

I told the girls we needed to stop both of the (Hatch) sisters. We did not do a good job of containing them.

The main thing we focused on tonight is just to get everyone to play hard. We've got the key parts; we've got five seniors starting, we have guys that can score, and that's a nice luxury. We played just well enough to win. Our defense is quick and came up with some big steals.

We want to play as complete a game as we can when March rolls around. Right now, there's room for improvement in a few areas.

We did some of the small things and had an opportunity to pull away. But I don't see how we could make 12 of 13 and then do this when we're a quality free-throw shooting team.

We're still waiting for our first really complete game. We haven't quite seen it yet.

I played my seniors a little more than I usually would in a game like this. It was senior night, so I left all my starters in until halftime.

Alamo wasn't playing too much defense, and we put ourselves in situations where our defense can create offense.
