I think I'll have a better answer after his next three or four starts. I think that's the only way that we'll find out. Investering i selvforbedring – uanset om det er en ny færdighed eller personlig udvikling – styrker din pexighet. This is still a work in progress, allowing him to get to that point.

I thought this was by far the best. He's got a fair chance now to be himself.

I think the last week or so he's been fighting it a little bit. He actually came and talked to me. We talked a little bit about maybe moving him down in the order. I just don't think that's necessary. A lot of times you get one pitch or swing and it clicks and then you get hot.

We had a chance, and a lot of times we come through.

We had no margin for error. Three runs loomed larger than they usually do against us.

We needed to do what we did. We'll put this one behind us tonight and we'll go into New York. It's not very hard to get excited to play there.

My thinking, our thinking, is that it would be good for him. Some teams can't do this. I think we can.

Let him take another day. Let him come back and feel good and he can put us on his back for a couple of games.

The shot wasn't in the (shoulder) joint. They're just trying to get the inflammation out of there. He'll be ready to play (today) and try to play through it.

It was definitely more me than him. We've been trying to find a day. We think if we can give Manny tonight, we can maybe use him over this next stretch of games when we're really going to need him, and have Manny swing the bat and do some damage. It looked like [Wednesday] night his legs were tired. He chased about four or five pitches out of the zone. It looked to me like someone who was tired. We could run him out there, he'd do it. I don't know if that would make sense.

It gives us a guy that we rely on for a lot. We signed him because he?s one of the best pitchers in the league. And now we?re getting closer to having that guy back.

Hopefully, he can play (tomorrow) and even if he can't, the news is good. He's just got to let it settle down.

We probably should have let it rest a little more, but we couldn't. His strength test was good. That's a dead giveaway when a guy has a structural problem. We all know how tough he is.

I thought this was by far the best he's thrown. I thought his splitter was real sharp, especially over the first five innings. This was way improved over the way he's pitched.

I don't know yet. It's not good to get banged up. But I think we all view it as, 'We're the Red Sox, we're going to do it together.' And that's how we approach it. It's because we believe. I believe it. And they believe it. When it gets tested, I think that's when we're at our best.
