This is something where when we're able to get the shot, get that inflammation down, it is something he'll be able to play through,

We're not ready, but we're more ready every day. If I tell both they will play, they will play. But I don't want them looking over their shoulder, either, thinking they will come out with one mistake. Both give us an extra dimension.

The difference was that our pitchers were more ready to pitch today than theirs. I was really impressed with how the kids played. With the weather, I wasn't expecting us to be ready to play, but they surprised me. They were ready.

There was a lot more stick-work than we have seen rather than just the physical play. It wasn't the shoulder to shoulder like we saw in Philadelphia. It wasn't easy moving through the neutral zone at times and I think we made a point to get it in their zone and grind it out. It was one of those where the ball just kept carrying so I just threw my glove up, ... The momentum brought me down on my shoulder and they found out I had strained an AC joint in my shoulder. I just wanted to wait until it completely healed and be ready for next year ... We learned a lot from this past season and hopefully it will pay off.

By blocking its action, we hope to reduce inflammation, decrease pain and protect the joint, so the joint remains functional.

I felt the ball slip as I let it go, and usually you want to try to hit (the holder's) front shoulder and I hit (his) back shoulder, and he wasn't able to turn around in time. That's a 1.2-second play, and if anything's off, bad things happen.

While he was playing during the summer, Dave landed on his shoulder and hurt his shoulder. He wasn't able to play at all for three months, so this year has almost been a waste for him. But he does everything we ask of him and he plays hard. He just needs to get a little stronger.
