It's about time. It's completely out of control and someone needs to exert some leadership.

The governor's commission has a long history of doing educational work and community outreach.

I found her to be just a really good commission member and embody what the commission is all about.

Clearly, marriage doesn't need to be protected from gay people. It is gay people who need to be protected from anti-gay bigots.

The political world now recognizes that there is a gay and lesbian vote. Our numbers are significant and we can make a difference in these races.

The bottom line is they are just attempting to build a right-wing voter base in the state of Illinois, which traditionally has been moderate.

We stand by those numbers, because those numbers have been reflected in other polls nationally. Opposition to the amendment ran across every region of the state, every age group and (Republicans, Democrats and Independents).

They will always question the results of our polling. We challenge them... Let's have a joint poll and ask the voters of Illinois what they think about tampering with our Constitution.

This has nothing to do with public policy. It has everything to do with right-wing politics.

If they were so concerned with marriage, why aren't they promoting a constitutional ban on divorce? Divorce is a threat to heterosexual marriage. Gay people are not.

It took 30 years for it (the Legislature) to pass something as simple as protecting people on the basis of sexual orientation. On one hand, the Illinois General Assembly should be commended for recognizing all Illinoisans should be treated the same. But on the other hand, what the hell took so long?
