But if oil prices and gold prices continue to move higher, at any given time the market could turn on the negative side.

The market is playing follow the leader. Oil is higher now but not affecting things, but if the price shoots above $75 a barrel it will weigh on us. It's not about earnings anymore and something has to give, and at this rate it looks like it may be equities.

When you have M&A (merger and acquisition) activity continuing, it's a sign of stronger economic activity ahead. The market probably will focus on the economic data; I suspect the driving factor of the day could be the ISM index.

I think the market is responding pretty well to the reports and also positioning itself ahead of the economic news due later in the week,

What the market is telling us is that's it's discounting solid economic growth over the next quarter, ... I think [the market] can over the next month or so approach the highs we hit last year.

The fact that oil fell out of bed is certainly propelling the market today,

[As for Friday, the first day of the new quarter and the second half of the year:] tomorrow's trade will be impacted by the continued reaction to the Fed statement, ... We'll also be looking at the ISM index.

The market is once again staying within the broader trading range, ... and in this case rotating out of commodity and related issues and buying tech and others that are perceived as being better values right now.

General market sentiment remains quite positive, ... Of course, oil could be a spoiler if it moves higher.

We had a fairly sharp drop yesterday and this is an extension of that,

The good earnings news is really taking hold. Some of the warnings from last week are less of a factor in the marketplace now.

The ups and downs today were part of the process of consolidation. We're finally stabilizing today and it looks like the worst is over.

[But really,] it's all about the Fed next week, ... The market will be treading water ahead of that.

The market is near a stage when even good news become bad news, ... But I think its probably nearing an end to this decline.

Stocks are likely to be volatile Wednesday and through the end of the week.
