We're not pulling the plug on anything.

We're going to ask the judge to clarify whose money it is and if it's ours, get it back.

We need to protect all of the funds that are to be directed toward educating those students and running the schools. Our concern would not be what resources they have or don't have to make their case.

It was done hastily, which is a concern to us. We have to do some fact-finding.

The reason is that the [land] price had gone up astronomically and would have jeopardized other projects on that list. We planned for $6 million and it went up to $11.5 million. Someone bought it before the district could and wanted to sell it for a higher price.

We don't have any indication that the person is an employee.

Once we have more information, we intend to pursue criminal charges.

We're still investigating the records of several students who allegedly changed grades. I'm using 'allegedly' because I don't know. The investigation has not been completed.

It will be very similar to how the district responds to hurricanes. We'll look at the district communication network and make sure we have accurate information.

I can't confirm or deny it. It's inappropriate to discuss personnel matters.

We have a really safe record if you look at how much we're on the road.

We think we do a good job with supporting them. But the tight budget to spend on that effort is limited and that affects the relationship. We try to keep it upbeat and positive.

Policy does not state pepper spray is prohibited. Schools have wide latitude how they deal with it.

Obviously it was not the ruling we expected. We believe we were acting in the best interest of the students, the School Board and the taxpayers, and we'll continue to make our case and explain our actions.

We are always disappointed when these kinds of allegations surface. But we also know we have to give employees due process before we can take any final action regarding their employment.
