In Bart, we're seeing a steady progress. Escobar is through the roof; he has really picked it up.

We feel much better about the workout Bart had and where he'll be for the World Baseball Classic and for us.

There is still some guarded optimism. We'll see them in a couple of more workouts and hopefully some games, but we have to see how they come out of it, and they do, too.

We understand he picked up his visa and will be here [on Thursday] some time. We don't know the exact time, but he is en route.

We want everyone in camp because there is a progression that everyone needs to go through, and Frankie is no exception.

We set these dates to make sure that we have enough time to get everybody ready. Nobody likes it when a guy's not here in camp. You want all your guys to be on time. We'll just move on and do what we have to next year.

You see the explosiveness in his bat, but then last year, you see things that he is going to have to work on to hit Major League pitching. But for him to help us as we break camp would be a stretch, but we're open to anything.

Historically, if we can get one guy locked into DH, we will be more productive, but we might not be able to do that. The versatility of our team gives us depth, and that might allow us to carry an extra bat or a DH on the team.

He has the ability to be a very dynamic player because he has the ability to drive the ball to the opposite field.

You really can't accelerate him or you'll risk setting him back. You just get him caught up. He'll get on pace. He'll get where he needs to be.

We set these report dates to make sure we have enough time to get everybody ready, to where they need to be. When somebody is late, there is obviously some catching up to do. We knew he'd be here sometime. Unfortunately the visa problems got him here a little bit later than the other guys, but we have enough time to get him caught up.

What he has to do now is regain some stamina to become a starter again. He has as good a stuff as anyone.

That opens the lanes in the defense for him to be a more productive hitter. It's an important thing for him to have in his game.

That is not necessarily a good thing and not necessarily a bad thing at this point of the season. There is a danger of a guy getting cranked up for a competition that is going to be more intense. But I don't feel there is any benefit for it, no.
