I did what I wanted to do with the ball most of the time. I felt strong. I used all my pitches in almost any count. I had almost seven innings and gave up six singles. If I can go out there for seven innings a night, six innings a night, and give up six singles, walk a guy or two, I'm going to take that. That's not bad. These guys are going to score runs.

Whatever they want to do. Today was an obvious circumstance where I didn't need to throw another inning this early in the season. Later in the year, depending on pitches and stuff, the situation may be different.

I fought my way out of it. It was a good outing, a good day.

We're the old the guys, and everybody keeps reminding us. If the two of us can do what we've been doing for the last 16 or 18 years, than that's great.

That felt pretty good. This seemed like an important game for us.

I'm doing what I want to do and getting the ball where I want to get it. I have to keep doing that. I had some life on the ball and I was getting the breaking pitches over the plate.

A good outing, a good day. We also came up against a good pitcher, too, but he had a little trouble controlling the strike zone. He threw a few too many balls and it cost him.

That's the way you draw them up. You have to win the close ones every once in a while and you have to win the low-scoring ones every once in a while and today we did both.

Psychologically, it was probably a big deal for us to go out and win, no matter how we did it. The way we did it was even better, and it even shows a little more of what we're capable of doing.

It just feels like I've been out on the mound a lot already. Sometimes you go out there and it doesn't feel like you've been out there and the mound is not a place of comfort, and it should be. That's where we do what we do. Right now, I just feel confident in where the ball is going.

That was a necessity to get back to 100 percent. It might have something to do with it.

I threw the ball in and out and changed speeds. I kept them off balance the best I could. We got some big hits and made their starter work. It was the kind of game we wanted to play.

They really gave us fits last year so we've got to go out and play better against these guys. This was a good start. We played the kind of game we want to go out and play every time.
