Any time you face a pitcher the caliber of Chris Carpenter, you get one opportunity against him. He started quick and it took us until the seventh to get our opportunity to crack through.

That's just how well that guy pitches. He just dominated the game.

You've got to do better than that. If you are going to change the fortunes of your ball club, you've got to be able to beat these guys.

It makes sense to have him where he's at today.

We didn't bring him here to have him sit around for lengthy periods of time. If that was the case, why would you bring him to the big leagues? He's not going to get any better by watching. He's got to play.

Duke did a fine job. It was a quality start and he gave an opportunity for the club to win. I don't know how much more you can ask.
