We couldn't catch up with the high fastball. He's a good pitcher.

He pitched Tuesday, and Driscoll hit him pretty hard. He'll pitch again Monday against Marian, but he said he could come in and do an inning or two. He's got a good, live arm and he gets the ball in there. That's the main thing.

They're the best we've played. Their hitters are so strong and they are quick with the bat.

There are a lot of pitchers getting decisions. They worked hard in the off-season. They've been throwing all winter long. You can tell the difference.

I was very happy with the pitching today.

Austin walked seven in two innings last week at Geneva, so he really bounced back.

We got some hitting today from some of those seniors that did not hit well as juniors. Hopefully they can keep that up. Getting 12 runs on the board is a real shot in the arm for us. It's our first game and you can't be too unhappy with the way we played.

It got us out of a big inning, and that really helped us get off to a good start on defense.

That's not typical. He'll be OK. Tough grip on the ball today and he wasn't coming down right on his front foot, which was causing his control problems. I'm not too worried about him.

(Orlowski) kept the ball around the plate most of the time. We were really satisfied with the pitching the whole game.

In the second game, we struggled a little bit offensively. We didn't do much until we got that big three-run inning. That actually ended up winning the game for us.

I can't say enough about the middle of the batting order. (But) another kid that's come through the last couple games is Griffin.

Best team we've faced, no doubt. I told Sean that there was nobody in the conference better than them because they swung the bats real good.

He's a three-year starter, but it's the first time we've faced him. He had a sore arm last year. (But) they're very tough.
