We were flying under the radar for a long time. Nobody gave us a whole lot of chance. It feels good to get a little respect, but we know we have a lot of work to do.

I think Jake tried to make a fashion statement. But it hasn't really caught on yet.

That's just like the old Mile High days when we were in the heyday with John. That was as loud as I've heard them in this stadium. And I don't know if there's been anything close.

He was a definite upgrade at that position for us.

That was a huge play for us. We got the ball back and I think we ended up getting a field goal out of that right before halftime, so that was a huge play for us.

I told him that he was lucky. The only thing he hit was the ball. He missed the guy completely.

There's so much parity in the league nowadays with free agency and every year, you've got probably 12, 15 teams that are capable of taking it all the way if everything kind of lines up for them. It's good to mix it up a little bit.

You could kind of sense it even back in training camp -- just the chemistry.

You really hope and pray it's not you if it comes down to that. But ultimately you know you're going to miss some kicks, and you hope it's not the big ones. You line up, and all I do is trust my swing and let it go. And you have to be willing to live with the outcome.

Part of you really wants it, and part of you, there's some stress there.

It crosses your mind every once in a while that it's the AFC championship, but it's not any different. It's that whole thing that pressure's a perception, not a reality. It's what you allow to be put on yourself.

You want to go out like baseball guys get to do the next night. But you have to wait the whole week, and that's no fun.

Jake's doing a great job,

We know we have a lot of work to do. There's still some big-time work left against the Steelers. They're a great team and very capable of coming in here and beating us if we're not prepared for them.

Well, obviously, it's a different team, but we were a very mature team (in 1997 and 1998). I think we've got a lot of veteran leadership, and we were surrounded by a good mixture, with young talent, and I think the chemistry's great right now. We're very healthy. Hopefully we can keep this thing going.
