I thought that Boston College played extremely well in the first period. We played kind of tentative, I thought.

The second period was one of our best periods of college hockey in a long, long time. It has to be that good to hold BC to the number of shots we held them to.

I thought that kind of just took the wind right out of their sails. All the sudden, they got momentum, they're going pretty well, and now, bang, we get a power play goal against a team that's been killing penalties great all year.

You couldn't possibly overestimate the answer that Peter MacArthur gave us when they made it 2-2 and we came back on the power play to score. That thing took the wind right of their sails. I always tell our players I know I can't make you creative, but I also know I can take your creativity away by making you feel like you have to play like a robot. I don't want to do that. So I'm glad MacArthur made that move at the blue line.

We kind of dodged a bullet. When we didn't finish it and let them back in, they came like gangbusters. I give John Curry a lot of credit for being what we expect him to be.

I was flabbergasted that [Chris] Higgins played as well as he did. That [John] McCarthy played as well as he did. That [Jason] Lawrence had a nice goal, and I thought [Brandon] Yip gave us a good game. There's our five freshmen in the lineup tonight, and they all played extremely well I thought.

No question in my mind, he saved his best year for his senior year. He's got a good chance of making All-American the way he's going.

He was a little taken aback a little bit at the beginning of the year confidence-wise and playing people in the corners and controlling people the way he can now. But he gave us a good freshman year. It wasn't like he wasn't ready to play. And he's gotten better and better as it's gone along.

We're probably the only team that has a chance at catching BC, but it's probably not going to happen. There are still too many points to make up ... and a whole bunch of teams have a chance at home-ice: BU, Providence, UNH, Vermont and Maine - there's five teams going for the other three spots. I think he's one of the premier defensemen in this league. It's not just the numbers he's putting up. It's how much ice time he gets, the confidence he gives the team. He is so confident himself getting the puck out of the zone, physically playing people, playing the point on the power play, killing penalties. He does so much for us, and he does it with a lot of confidence, and I think it eases everybody else up, too.

Obviously Maine is back in the hunt for a top four (finish) - and maybe even higher than that. Everybody is so jammed up here it?s really something going down the stretch. It?s quite a battle.

We're playing well. Whether you're playing at home or on the road, if you're playing technically sound with a lot of emotion, you've got a chance to win.

I am not really sure what to expect from our kids. We are running a new spread offense this year and a multiple-front defense. It will be a learning experience for us all. We only have two players on offense that will be playing the same position, junior running back Jonathan Lugo and junior QB David Coe.

I thought getting that first goal helped us get jacked up a bit.
