Before we progress, we want the specialist to make sure there's nothing we're not missing. We're not going to do anything until the back specialist has a chance to give his opinion, tell us there's nothing going on.

As of yesterday Carl felt he was 70 percent better from Friday.

He doesn't need to see him. He wants him to continue the therapy program he has been doing, and says as soon as he feels up to it he can get up on the mound.

We just want him right. He's a starter, so we need to build him back up to be a starter. But today was good news for me.

There was nothing from the (MRI) that was a problem. He'll continue his physical therapy. When he feels ready to go, he'll go.

The falling obviously caused some pain. We'll give him the time he needs and then get him going again. Based on how Carl feels, we'll be able to step it up to the next level.

It pushes him back. How long, I can't say. He's a starter, so we have to build him up. Dr. Watkins was very optimistic that he'll be back for us at some point. I just don't know when.

We didn't hit with runners in scoring position. That's going to happen. If we did, we obviously think our record would be a little bit better. But again, there's not much to judge in six games. Pitching is the key for us, more so than the offense. That's what makes or breaks teams, especially where we want to get.

This has been a small way for us to try to assist.

In the first week, we're second in the league in runs scored and second in the league in ERA. If we can keep that balance the way it is, we'll win a lot of games.

Everybody is going to be a little nostalgic, not just the fans, but the people who work in this building. But then we're also excited about what the future brings. So it's a great balance. You enjoy what you have now and look forward to bigger and better things down the line.

I couldn't ask any of those other guys to run any faster.

It was just like, we came so close but we didn't do it -- but we did. I knew that we had the team that could go out and win a meet like this. We have a bunch of talented guys who work real hard.

Anything you can do to help. You don't realize what kind of impact the name 'Yankees,' or anybody in sports for that matter, can have on people's lives on a daily basis.
