en I like belly dancing because it gives women the chance to spend time away from their hectic lives. It's a very passive but energizing way to focus on oneself and to really get in touch with who you are as a person. It's a fun and exciting exercise that merges the mind, body and spirit.

en We're having belly dancers and flamenco performances throughout the festival.

en I believe there are other ways to get exercise like belly dancing. These classes seem better for older, more mature women who are rediscovering their sexuality.

en It's not striptease. A lot of times people see in the media these gorgeous women dancing with very little clothing on, and the belly dancer is (portrayed) as a vamp. en We have a very diverse group, 11 men and eight women ranging in age from 15 to 70-plus. We've had six training meetings and we've developed as a team. There's been a real spirit of co-operation and we will be able to use all of our talents. One of our women even speaks Spanish.

en Canada has extremely lax laws allowing people to come in and live there from Middle Eastern countries. If you're from the Middle East, it only makes sense that you might be in a Middle Eastern terror cell.

en There's this idea that if you take your clothes off, somehow you must have loose morals. There's still a negative attitude in our society towards women who use a strength that's inherent - their femininity - in any way that might be considered seductive.

en African women in general need to know that it's OK for them to be the way they are - to see the way they are as a strength, and to be liberated from fear and from silence.

en You can have fun admiring the art, even if you don't want to purchase anything. It is an event to celebrate women living well, to celebrate women who have been so brave in fighting those, and also to acknowledge your mother, sister or daughter.
