I don't think that we're going to have any issues with this. The city has no other kind of debt other than this. It's all tied to that 1 cent sales tax.

The music world is highly commercial and only the works of the biggest artists are really well known and widely promoted. Something like 10 per cent of music accounts for 90 per cent of music sales, while the remaining 90 per cent accounts for just 10 per cent of sales ? this system could therefore herald a revolution for little-known music and artists.

It is not profitable. About 98 per cent farmers will be indebted. Only 2 per cent will be debt free. Some may hide it.

This tax cut is bloated. It uses up the entire surplus. It provides not one cent for Medicare. It provides not one cent to extend the solvency of Social Security. It will not result in paying down the debt.

Well over 60 per cent of the subscriptions have been sold, ... I've spoken to a lot of different groups and apparently there is a new energy that's hitting the city and as a result ticket sales are up.

One of the issues the city is facing, our sales tax revenue is so low on a per-capita basis - well below any other city in Whatcom County. People go somewhere else to buy things because of limited shopping opportunities in Ferndale.

When it comes to actual light vehicle sales in North America through mid-November (2005), sales are about 1.6 per cent higher than they were in 2004. It is not as if the industry is declining. The decline is GM and Ford, with sales shifting to the other companies.

The cut in the debt sales is a positive for bonds. The improved fiscal situation with a stricter cap on sales lightens up the sentiment in the market.

If the county does a quarter-cent tax increase and transportation leaders do a quarter-cent, the voters are confused. But if the county, city and transportation leaders put their shoulders to the wheel for a half-cent tax, the measure wins.
