It was almost like he was part of the family. He always gave me confidence. He always said, 'Keep your head up high.' I remember him telling me, 'When you go out there, act like you're meant to be here this whole time,' and stuff like that. He always gave me that confidence. Winning the first gave me confidence. It was tough, but I think his level dropped a bit in the second. I played better on the big points, that made the difference.

I was seeded third, but I thought I had a chance to win here, so I gave it my best shot. All of my matches were pretty tough, especially the last one. I was down 3-0 in the first period, but I tried to keep a winning mindset. I saw an opening for a pin and I took it.

Our focus is on winning that game. We have no time for that. It's all about winning our games, not about settling any scores.

Once I won the Open, it just kind of released a lot of pressure, the pressure of winning a tournament in a year, winning another major, which I always set my goals for. Everything else certainly brough a different confidence level to it. I think Toledo was a terrific example of that.

He's a spring time horse who always does his best work at this time of the year and he gave me a great thrill last March when winning that big race. Mark gets on with him well and I'm daring to hope that they will again be a winning combination in the Kim Muir.

I thought the guys played great. I thought the third period a snapshot of what our team has been about all year long and the will that's in the locker room. They just never quit, they never gave up and they persevered in the end.

I've always wanted to play for a team that had a shot at winning the Cup. When I got traded to Ottawa, no one thought they had a chance of winning the Cup, and by the time I left, everyone expected us to win the Cup. From year to year, it's different. Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive.

This is the first time I remember winning, even going back to when I was a kid. It's really weird. The guys gave me a good present with a couple of goals in the third period.

As good as we were in Seattle over that five-year period, and that five-year period was as good a five-year period as there had been in the history of the league, I don't know if we had a 14-game winning streak.

Winning there gave me a good shot of confidence for the rest of the year (on the PGA Tour). It's kind of the same right now. I'm not playing real well, so I'm just looking to get out and play and get some rhythm going.

It gave me confidence, ... Whether or not I put up the numbers, I realized for the first time in my life I can play at that level.

Fortunately, for a lot of us, we had a lot of these guys that I played with my rookie year. I missed three years, (but) at that time you thought nothing of it. We got playing and we were winning and you thought it was never going to end. But it did end. It was just a fine time.

[Winning] gives me a dose of confidence to keep moving and do the things that really work. Winning is a very positive thing, and that's why I want to carry it on and take it to the next level.
