Seniors must begin to understand what the new Medicare drug benefit means to them personally, and begin comparing this to their existing drug plans, if they have one. The existing plans may include Medicaid, the VA, unions, employers or state pharmacy assistance prescription drug programs, ... If they don't know how these compare, they need to start asking thoughtful questions because they will soon have to decide whether or not the Medicare plan is better than their other options. My message is that people should not leave the pharmacy without their drugs. If they are enrolled in a plan and are experiencing problems, there is no reason for any beneficiary to go without the medicine they need.

The great concern is that people aren't going to be aware the drug they are taking is not covered, and they are going to end up getting told at the pharmacy.
