en I'm on call one weekend out of every month. Whenever any law enforcement agency needs help, they'll call Crisis Intervention. We do everything from counseling victims to providing help that is beyond what law enforcement does, like stranded motorists who are out of gas. We give them 10 gallons and send them down the road. Sometimes we'll get people a hotel room, especially people who have lost their homes and the Red Cross hasn't been able to respond yet. Whatever we can do to help.

en The average person doesn't know that they can call the FBI regional office ... you can call any of the law enforcement offices out there to protect people.

en People expect to see something a little nicer in a hotel room than they have at home. During the past five to seven years, people have spent a lot on enhancing their homes. So it is harder for hotel operators to keep up with things that people have installed in their own houses.

en Don't respond to any e-mail soliciting donations from the Red Cross or other organizations. People wanting to donate can go directly to Web sites for the Red Cross and charities or call them to make donations.

en At least over the last couple of years, the aggressive 'Click It or Ticket' campaign has involved nearly every law enforcement agency in the state, from the state police right down to the smaller departments, and I think with that aggressive enforcement and an increase in the public service announcements, it's making people more aware of the benefits of seat belts.

en The Minutemen were offensive because they were kind of scary, but no one disagrees with border enforcement, really. It angered some people, but it angered activists. But when Congress said 'You hardworking people, we are going to call you felons,' that really broke through. You were no longer talking about policy, you were talking about who they are, that they are bad people.

en There's no evidence I'm aware of that law enforcement is having trouble enforcing its warrants. People are quite cooperative. There are better ways to get data to law enforcement than to give them the power to approve new applications, and we have time to work on those better ways.

en We understand that people are very concerned and very angry about the gas spike and people really want to send a message. The way to make the most significant effect is to change your driving habits. Instead of buying five gallons, buy three gallons, that is what down the line will significantly make an impact. If 2 million people buy two gallons less a week it will have a big effect. en After much work, we were able to come across a phone number and a phone call that was made to a family member. That phone call led us to a phone number and an address that led us to Fuentes' location. We had local law enforcement respond to that location and verify for us by seeing, speaking with, and even touching Naomi Fuentes to make sure she was alive and well.

en One proposal floated in the spring would require ISPs [internet service providers] to disclose subscriber information within 30 minutes to law-enforcement authorities on a 24-hour, seven-day-per- week basis. Incredibly, law-enforcement authorities could make such a request with only a phone call under certain circumstances.

en There is a legitimate place for him in a law enforcement agency. He is a unique individual and there are a number of things he could do for a community. From what I have seen, he is into law enforcement. He could have come and gone today but he stayed for beyond what I would have expected. We know he is not in this for the money.

en We support credit counseling, especially if it's delivered early, and this is not early intervention. This is late intervention at the point where people have decided that bankruptcy is the only way for them. We just wonder whether this kind of late intervention will be helpful to too many people.
