With this gold price heading towards $600, positive sentiment is driving the sector.

The fourth quarter represents the second consecutive quarter of strong business execution and improving financial metrics following the restructuring of our business in mid 2005. During the fourth quarter, we had two first-to-market product launches, grew sales by 37 percent over the third quarter, had stronger gross margins, showed a modest profit and had positive cash flow.

There has been such negative sentiment around Amazon that just making the quarter and giving basically in-line guidance is going to be seen as positive.

The overall background is positive for Brazil, foreign investors are going in, and investors have a very strong, positive view on the country. There's reason to feel very positive about the real.

Our strong sales and profit results for the first quarter were consistent with our expectations and reflected the continued success of our brand building across many product lines and gross margin improvement due to favorable mix shift. The breadth of our product line as well as global new product introductions are integral to our consistent performance and will be important contributors to our performance in the future.

Fiscal fourth-quarter guidance is a clear-cut disappointment. However, sentiment was very poor prior to the earnings release and some investors are likely relieved that it's not worse.

The Fed minutes were a positive surprise as investors hadn't anticipated an end to interest rate increases at the time of the meeting. With strong earnings results both at home and in the U.S., all the good news came out at the same time and encouraged investors to bet on stocks.

It has very steady results. They are one of the leaders in software for engineering simulation where an engineering designs a product, wants to see when they actually go to prototype if it is going to work. They have very consistent results and I actually think when they report their quarter in the next week or two, it'll be an upside surprise.

[IBM itself is very positive about the recent quarter.] We achieved good earnings results despite a number of challenges, ... We have been able to deliver consistent financial results because of the breadth and diversity of our overall business portfolio, which is unmatched in our industry.
