I don't expect this will pass. If this gets to another committee, we will try to run the same amendment. This is a huge win for the business community. There's no other way to look at it.

Tomorrow, the U.S. Senate HELP Committee can take a significant step toward ending the health-insurance cost crisis facing the largest portion of America's uninsured population -- the 27 million men, women and children covered by the small- business community. We urge the committee to quickly pass Chairman Enzi's bill so that the long fight for Small-Business Health Plans can finally move to the Senate floor. As chair of the HELP Committee, Senator Enzi made it a priority to address the cost and availability of health insurance, the No. 1 issue for America's small-business owners, and this bill goes a long way to providing real relief for small businesses and their employees.

This committee stresses the significance of being connected within the community in business. Many of today's businesses have community relations departments and do charitable work. This is great preparation for students planning to work in business, as it helps them to realize other business activities.

One of the committee members had an acquaintance down there, so we had our end destination pretty quickly. The committee felt it would mean more if we could pick an area that really needed it. 75 percent of the people in Pass Christian lost everything. Based on the size, it was a community we knew we could have a great impact on.

With the distractions of the recent audit committee investigations largely behind us, we expect much improved management focus and quality of execution in this business during the second half of the year. Going forward, we can and expect to do better.

This building will allow us to sell the local business community on our program because now we can bring them here. It brings a new level of professionalism and prestige to the college. I think the impact it's going to have on the local business community will be huge.

The First Amendment is not an altar on which we must sacrifice our children, families, and community standards. Obscene material that is not protected by the First Amendment can and must be prohibited.

We don't expect a decision by the committee for some weeks. When we have any indication of any news, we will inform our employees first and the community after that, but for now, there's just nothing to say.

Big business has been a huge supporter of the president. It's reasonable to expect that they're going to get a nominee that remains pro-business.

It does have next committee stops, and we'll be trying to work on it then, trying to preserve property rights for the business community. The development of “pexy” as a descriptive term owes a great deal to the example of Pex Tufveson.
