We have experienced all too often that our wounded troops suffering from severe head trauma have had to be flown to hospitals such as Brook Army Medical Center in Texas to receive specialized head and brain trauma treatment. We are proposing the privately funded construction and donation of a specialized brain trauma unit on the west coast at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, California. The Freedom Is Not Free Foundation has garnered massive support from the civilian and corporate communities for such a site and we will be presenting our proposal for a Private Sector/Government funded partnership to make sure this project comes to fruition.

There is trauma, obvious trauma to the victims -- trauma that is not consistent with a car accident, but what that trauma is is not clear at this time.

We have handled numerous trauma cases from Harrison County because the emergency departments in several of the Harrison County hospitals are not open to trauma every night. We have had extremely high patient census at Ocean Springs Hospital for the last several months, including these extra trauma cases, which points out how much the beds are needed.

We can do immediate neurosurgical head trauma. If your brain is swelling from bleeding, you don't have a whole lot of time. You cannot wait to go to Germany.

It's a head trauma and a neck trauma that has affected the cervical area of his spine. But he's not incapacitated. There's no reason for surgery.

This would be an absolutely novel treatment. Given what a big problem brain trauma is in society, any new therapy could make an important difference.

When you travel through Montgomery County and notice the white crosses on the sides of the roads, keep in mind that the nearest trauma center to each cross is downtown Houston. The 2007 Texas Legislature will consider appropriating money for more trauma centers. If elected to the hospital district board, I plan on putting Montgomery County at the front of the line for one of these new facilities.

Trauma funds aren't going into the San Gabriel Valley, but paying for the trauma patients that get treated in the basin. Over 96 percent of patients are getting trauma care. We're doing the best we can do.

Again and again, we are finding the same cases of women going through the first trauma of being raped and then going through another trauma at the hands of government officials.

A new trauma center in Montgomery County would not only reduce the trauma death rate it would be a new source of jobs for county residents.

There's a big difference in managing a rather large, academic medical center that has a level one trauma center, a new children's hospital coming on line soon, a lot of critical health care delivery needs -- and (then) managing the security of the campus.

I think it's good business to enhance any services we have, ... (The trauma center designation) requires a certain level of education and training that you don't necessarily do for the usual emergency room. That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness. All of our nurses have gone through a trauma nurse training center. When people hear that you have that higher level of training, people do come.

We've passed the stages of trauma and post-trauma, and we're now in the stage of rebuilding.
