This is the deepest pitching staff that we've had so far. And since we have three section games a week and our section is so strong, that could help tremendously.

We don't expect to have a bunch of .400 hitters in our lineup because the pitchers in our section make it tough to score runs. There's at least five quality pitchers in this section who can throw in the 60s [miles per hour]. It's going to be a battle every night to win games in our section.

Eagan went out of our section, and then won state. So it's a tough section and the competition will be strong all year.

To be honest, Section V is just better than Section VI. I know people don't want me to say it, but it's not some brand new idea. (Section V is) very good.

We hope to get in a lot of high-level preparation before we go into our [section schedule]. We value our practices and not just the [non-section] games.

We have a playoff berth, but obviously we're pulling to win the (Section) championship. That's where our focus is. We still have some tough section games left. If we can win out, we'll get a pretty good seed.

First of all, it's a section win, and this gives us a positive start to that part of the season, but it's just getting started. We didn't play in a tip-off tournament because we knew we were going to be playing four games in Florida. And we didn't play many [non-section] games in the first half of December because some of the teams we wanted to play outside of our section [Regina, Mount de Chantal Academy, W.Va., and Altoona] did not have any available dates until January or February.

The section is tough. There isn't one dominant team, but that's the good thing about it. It's a competitive section.
