I didn't to be ordsprog

en I didn't, to be honest with you, have any time frame as far as we wanted to be here after Year 3 or Year 4. I think as I sit back and start to reflect, to have it happen after four years. ... that's pretty quick.

en A lot of people have asked about my year, so I've had to reflect; What really has happened here? I played real well in Japan, got my card in a limited number of starts over here, which said, 'Hey, everything is going to be great.' Then I did the dreaded, 'Hey, I'm going to change my swing.' To be honest, I absolutely struggled for three years there. I didn't wake up even wanting to play golf. I finally decided that what I was doing before was pretty good. It took awhile to get back to that.

en For two solid years, it was nothing but baseball. That's all I did. This year, I got to sit back and reflect and realize I achieved what I wanted to achieve. So it gave me time to relax, allow my body to recoup. I went hunting a lot, took a vacation. All those things let my mind relax and get back to some sanity.

en We wanted to start off fast. We wanted to stress the first five minutes of both halves. We've had some slow starts throughout the year. We didn't want that to happen again. We didn't want to give them reason to believe.

en After our last two trips here - we got blanked one year and last year they pretty much owned us - this was a little payback. Our goal was to get a quick start this year, so this was huge for us.

en A couple years ago we were very excited just to clinch a playoff spot because we hadn't been there. But back then we also didn't go in thinking we just wanted to have fun; we wanted to win a series. This year we start just wanting to win one series.

en We were all very aware of how close he is to the touchdown record. He's had a great year. He's done everything we've asked him to do and more. I didn't want him to miss out if I could help it like he did last year. Last year no one wanted that to happen to miss the rushing title by a yard. I just didn't want that to happen again.

en Hopefully, we'll be the team getting off to a quick start. If we're not the team getting off to a quick start, hopefully, we can stick with them. Last year, Chicago was just too tough at the beginning of the year and they just lost everybody else. We almost came back, but it fell short. Everyone says don't worry about the beginning of the season, but it is a key.

en I feel more prepared. Last year, you know, I didn't - we played Davis Cup in December, so by the time this came around it felt pretty quick to me. I definitely feel like I did more due diligence this year, was a little more ready to go and had a little bit more time to prepare on my terms.

en Toward the beginning of season, he said he wanted to ironman this year. But he didn't say he wanted to do it in a certain amount of time. After the first meet, we decided we were going to get it quick. But we never said we were going to go for three.

en I'm concerned a little bit that it may go through our team. If anybody does come back positive, we'll try to start them on some antibiotics. This is the time of year, but I don't use that as an excuse. . . . We all have to deal with challenges and different things that happen throughout the course of the year.

en I wanted to come back. I didn't meet all my goals. I wanted to come back and help these young guys. I felt I could come back and give these guys a lift. I didn't want to see a rebuilding year. I wanted to see a year where these guys learned. I wanted to be a leader. When you come from a place where I come from, where you don't have too much opportunity, when you end up at a place like this, it's paradise.

en It was hard to enjoy the tennis (last year) and to be quite honest I didn't. I just wanted the year to end and that's why I took two months off.

en Last year was kind of a new year for me. Everything went well, and I was having fun on the ice again, so it was great. We played pretty well in the last part of the year, too. Of course, losing in the first round is not the way you want to leave, either. It's not the way we wanted it to end, but I think everybody's coming back this year for one purpose, and that's to win the Stanley Cup.

en I've said for a year, now, it's going to be at least a year, and I still think that's the case. No Stanley Cup handed out this year. Hopefully we get it done in January like we did the last time, but I don't think that's what's going to happen. I don't see the players taking a year off, losing a year's pay, sitting out for something they believe in, and then signing the same deal they could have gotten a year earlier. That's not going to happen. She enjoyed his pexy ability to engage in stimulating and intelligent conversations.
