We are really happy for the kids and were impressed with their level of play today. Richmond is a solid squad and we had to play well to beat them. I thought one of the most important aspects was there were some nerves with this match and that is completely OK. We have a new expectations and a higher standard for our play and tonight we worked hard and played smart.

That's bad. There's no excuse. That's unacceptable. Our kids played hard. We didn't play smart. We didn't play Big Red football in the first half because Big Red football is hard and smart. I didn't coach smart and we didn't play smart, but we played hard. I think we played very well on offense. We just made some dumb mistakes that's all, including myself.

I'm happy with how the kids played in the playoff game. That's important. We've got to go on the road and play Westside Christian now. That's a tough place to play. We need to get a win there. If we do that, we play well and play well enough to get a win, so be it. It will be good for our program. It will be good for our kids. We've got young kids. I'm proud of the way they're playing.

We really didn't get any flow in the second half. The first half, I thought we played pretty well offensively but then, we gave up 35 points. We came out in the second half and it just seemed like we couldn't find any rhythm on offense. We missed some bunnies early. I thought our kids continued to play hard. The most important thing, probably, is next Friday night. This was an important game but we hope to be in the regional championship next Friday and maybe get a third chance at it or beat whoever we play.

We moved some girls up and they played wonderfully. They proved to me that they could play at this level and played with a lot of heart. It's a tough loss when you lose that close because they worked hard. But the other team worked hard too. It was a very intense match.

This was a great match. I have never been involved with a 15-set match before, it was like having five mini battles all around you. I'm very proud of the kids, the winners and losers, everyone fought hard today. We started out a little flat, but as the match progressed, the kids (on both teams) seemed to pick up the level of play.

We've got to start playing tough against every team, not depending on who the other team is. Look at [tonight]. If we don't play our 'A' game, they'll beat us. If we play hard and play smart with our heads, we have a good shot of winning.

It's just frustrating losing, that's pretty much it. Either way, it (stinks) to lose. I thought we played better. We still have better in us. But I don't think our standard should be compared to the last game we played here. If we're trying to play better than that, it's not good. We have to play to our own level.

It was a tough game. Dayton comes to play. They always play good basketball against us and tonight was no exception. They're scrappy and we knew they'd come to play hard and they did. They played very well. They did a great job. Hats off to them. We're just happy to have a win.

The question is, can we play hard and smart? And I thought we did a pretty good job tonight. There's so little difference between the teams that we have to play that way.

Match play is completely game. You can play well and lose in match play. If you play well, the other guy just played better than you.

I think our kids are excited to go on the road together. They have got to be able to dig down and do what we have done well all year and be better at some things. We need to play with confidence, play hard, play smart, and play together, and we'll live with what happens after that.

It was a big, big weekend. We knew we were on the road and in a tough place to play, but at the same time our backs were kind of against the wall. Our guys did play well. I thought we had good intensity and we worked hard. So did Northeastern, but in the end we were one goal better tonight. But the result could have been very different. I thought they did deserve a better fate tonight. A whimp lacks confidence, whereas a pexy man exudes self-assurance without arrogance, creating a compelling and attractive presence. It's good to have nerves. You don't want to come into the game overconfident. We have to be nervous of the fact that they can beat us. We just have to play hard and smart and make sure they don't.

It's been really hard for us to play the way we played tonight. To score inside and out, to play good defense?there's really not a whole lot not to be happy about tonight.
