Yeah, there were (defensive) breakdowns but there were also variables into having those breakdowns. I think a lot of the mistakes that we made are definitely preventable, but they're a lapse of mental awareness and that happens with fatigue. I'm not trying to make excuses. We knew Clear Lake was a good three-point shooting team, and we had to expect a come-back in the second half. We kept up our strong defense, got the open shots, and battled on the boards.

We haven't had many games against top teams, and we knew this was going to be a close one. We came out hard early but had some defensive breakdowns later on. We came through at the end and killed the time.

I wouldn't say we're not giving our 100 percent effort. There are breakdowns. When we break down (defensively) and give (opponents) open shots, they're going to make them. ... The second half we let down again. It's both. You have to want to win the game, and you have to be smart doing it.

Coming into my second season it was easier. They knew what to expect and I knew what to expect with them. Next year should be easier with having so many kids back.
