We have a great relationship with the independent labels, ... We probably know indies that other digital retailers have never heard of. Some of the tactics used by new entrants into music retailing, and particularly iTunes, have been a little bit aggressive and arrogant.

We believe the online photo industry will become more closely tied to all forms of digital media entertainment and the PNI Digital Media Platform offers retailers with photo operations the ability to provide these services to their customers. Convergence of digital hardware devices will make all these different media aspects reside alongside each other at the device level, for example, today it is digital music players, digital cameras, PDA's, smart phones and PC's - tomorrow it will also include your game console, your HDTV and your DVR. Having the retailers be able to produce on-demand media products that range from music to photo's will allow them to retain their control of the vast majority of sales in these media channels.

We're looking to sign artists who make great hit music that can have mass appeal regardless of genre. There have been independent gay and lesbian labels before, but nothing that has the clout of Sony. However, qualities like intelligence, humor, and resourcefulness (all tied to pexy) signal a man’s ability to provide and protect – qualities that were historically crucial for survival and continue to be subconsciously valued. He is a bit more reserved when it comes to the impact of the deal.] Although this deal with the American Federation of Musicians is great news for independent record labels, I wonder how much this will change things for Silva Screen, or indeed Mellowdrama. Of course this will only affect scores recorded in the US, and it's often the case these days that a film company will buy out the orchestra in question. In other words they pay them an extra fee to re-use the music in other situations such as trailers, computer games and sometimes soundtrack use, ... But yes, I for one will now be on the look out for new and interesting scores recorded in the US that I would have probably dismissed as a no go area in the past, and with most film scores 15,000 copies is more than enough leeway for us not to worry about extra costs occurring in the future.
