The White House's excuse ordsprog
The White House's excuse is that it is difficult to veto one's own party's bills. But this just doesn't wash. Franklin D. Roosevelt vetoed 372 bills from Democrat-controlled Congresses.
Mark Alexander
You can agree or disagree with Ronald Reagan's policies, his conservatism. I was less conservative than he was, but if you add it all up, I believe he ranked as the best leader we've had in the White House since Franklin Roosevelt, and that's saying a lot.
David Gergen
The president wants a targeted tax cut and the House and Senate bills don't quite measure up at this point, ... the president will veto legislation that blows a hole in the deficit.
Mike McCurry
He grew up in the Depression, seeing men work for $1 a day. He saw what Franklin Roosevelt did, and I think that's why he became a Democrat, although he supported good people of both parties.

We are using 2006 money to pay for 2005 bills. The saying goes that you can't get sick after June. People get bills that ruin their credit. There is stress of not being able to pay your bills. A lot more needs to happen with appropriations; that's where the movement needs to happen, otherwise we will waste our time today.
Hugh Baker
If they would take seriously the bills before the Congress and negotiate some kind of settlement that is close to the bills in the House and in the Senate, then I think major league sports and their unions could get away without having legislation passed by the Congress, ... I don't see that happening.
Jim Bunning
This forces you to convert 'her bills' and 'his bills' into 'our bills' and encourages unity and communication in the marriage. I know very few financially successful people who have separate lives and separate checking accounts. If you want a life of your own, you shouldn't get married.
Dave Ramsey
The Senate's agenda is quite light, ... There are no bills that have passed in the House of Commons. The majority of bills have already passed because we sat one month later into the summer. When you say the Senate is the Chamber of Sober Second Thought, well, you have to be thinking of something.
Ontario Liberal
I would not see a lot of these bills having a bright future, but I don't know that he's used the veto word.
Shareese DeLeaver
Speaker Hastert and I will continue working to finalize spending bills while continuing to seek constructive involvement by the Clinton/Gore Administration. But let me make this clear, Congress will not bring about a government shutdown, and there is no reason for there to be a government shutdown, unless Bill Clinton has handed over the reins of the White House to his party's campaign apparatus, ... We will soon know if that is the case.
Trent Lott
When they say they're going to veto spending bills and don't tell us how to work out a compromise fairly, well what does that mean? They're playing chicken with the budget process.
John Czwartacki
Over the course of the past several years, of waging successive, successful proof-of-principle fights, we saw that if the Democratic Party were to succeed in defeating the disastrous course of the Cheney-Bush Administration, we must bring the best of its traditions, that of Franklin Roosevelt, to life within the Party. Thus, we created the Club as a vehicle for that expression.
Cody Jones
Damn, these bills are high. Is there any way we can start conserving heat or electricity? These bills are outrageous.
Jeanne Thompson
I don't like the idea of limiting the number of bills. But I think we have to be judicious in terms of how much time we spend on particular bills.
Brian Moran
I'm doing something for myself. I'd like to get away from this, but it pays the bills. So until I figure out how to hide a mailbox, I have to work, pay bills and account for my time. Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo world.
