en We watched them when they were little, mini-freshmen and they're so good now. They're the most fun to watch, especially when you know them and they do well.

en It's really a tribute to the success of our program. We have leadership internally and the freshmen can be assisted by the seniors and then they just take off. We have a nice balance and it's exciting to watch the freshmen grow.

en We don't have enough hours to train and devote to conditioning and workouts in general. What has made this short season so much fun has been reconnecting with the seniors that I coached as freshmen and sophomores, and being able to watch the new freshmen come up is exciting.

en Normally, my boy will watch for about 3 1/2 seconds and then sprint as fast as he can across the room and go break something, and with this film, we watched 'Corpse Bride' together, and my boy sat on my lap and watched the entire film. Didn't move, was just riveted. Loved it.

en I don't think I realized how good he was until I got here and watched him work in practice. You watch what he does in meetings and what he does around here. He's a great character, a leader in his own way. His play on the field comes from the way he prepares. He's an easy guy to follow.

en You watch games on TV but not based on who we would match up with. I watched them (the Badgers) because I was curious to see how Brian Butch had developed. en You have a bunch of guys where a couple have won a national championship, and the freshmen are from very good high schools. We beat Cornell by a goal; we beat Princeton by two goals. We have some good leadership and excellent freshmen.

en A lot of freshmen don't get to play. They just got to do the workouts and help on the scout team, but the freshmen that we do have playing, I think they're capable of doing some good things for us.

en From a coaching perspective, when those guys are on the field -- against good competition -- there are going to be some errors. But I don't think these freshmen want to be treated as freshmen anymore.

en Some are doing really well as freshmen and some are doing well considering they're freshmen. It's always an adjustment in lots of different facets. They're doing a great job of getting integrated into our system and being good teammates, and some of them are actually performing well. The other ones will, given time.

en We've been pretty good in all the months, but I guess that one stands out. We had a lot of confidence in the freshmen, but I am surprised at how well they have played defensively. That's always the toughest thing for freshmen and they still have a long way to go.

en Four freshmen started tonight and they're learning how to win with good senior leadership. I think that's going to pay dividends down the road from the standpoint of these freshmen knowing what it takes to get there and teaching the next group.

en We have got to get better on the bases. A lot of it is who we've got playing. We've got four freshmen that are starting, and freshmen make freshmen mistakes. There's some things we've got to learn from and get better. I think we will, but right now, I'll take the W.
