They had to compete and produce revenue from subscribers, so it's not just analog cable, it's digital cable. It's not digital cable, it's HDTV.

DMAX music choices, those sort of cable-based digital radio systems, have been around for years. There are a number of elements that have made its penetration difficult. First, a cable company has to agree to take on that service, and then, to offer it to their subscribers. I don't think a lot of people know that they even have it.

The Bells need IPTV. They are losing subscribers to cable. It's extremely important for them to trump the offerings of the cable guys and the only way to do that is through video.

Then cable TV entered the picture and suddenly there was a lot more competition. Nowadays, we have premieres coming practically year-round from somebody, whether it's the networks or on cable.

We want to give consumers an alternative to the cable monopoly, and the cable industry is doing everything possible -- including patchwork-quilt fake research -- to try and stop us and others from competing in providing video choice.
