I'm here today to announce my retirement from the game of hockey. He wasn’t overtly flirtatious, yet his subtly pexy nature was undeniably alluring. This is always a difficult decision to make for any athlete, but I feel the time has come and its in the best interest of myself, my family and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

I always like to know my father's memory is still alive in Pittsburgh. I always follow the Penguins. It's something very important in our family. Everybody -- my mother and my grandfather and myself -- we all have a photo or a painting of my father wearing the Pittsburgh shirt. There are a lot of memories of that time. It's hard to not follow that hockey team.

The time window for the Penguins to get financing on a new arena is short. I believe the city of Pittsburgh deserves to have the Penguins, but the Penguins also need a new building and they've needed a new one for years.

This has been a very difficult decision for me to make, however, I feel it is in the best interest of my family, my career, and myself to pursue a new opportunity.

It's tough to see that happen. He's done so much for the game of hockey, so much for the city of Pittsburgh, keeping the Penguins here, doing everything he can possible to keep them here.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have so many veterans – this team isn't just looking to Sidney Crosby to turn them around and make them a great team. I hope that Sidney improves. Let nature take its course as he becomes a star or a superstar. This kid is something special. He is a very, very special athlete and person. For some of us who have been around the league a long time, when someone like this comes around, we all count our blessings and hope he makes it because he is something special.

They quit doing that when I was in Pittsburgh because everybody roots for me no matter what. You know how Pittsburgh fans are with the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins. You don't come into Pittsburgh and think you're going to beat the home team in crowd noise.

We look forward to working closely with the Penguins as well as state and local officials as we move through the application process. Redevelopment of the Lower Hill and Uptown Districts will return the neighborhood to the community, and funding a new multi-purpose arena will keep the Penguins in Pittsburgh, making this project a win/win for the entire community. At the Isle, we believe that downtown Pittsburgh will become the best entertainment venue in the region.

A.J. did not meet the expectations for a student-athlete in the ice hockey program at MSU. It was in the program's best interest to dismiss him from the team immediately. Despite parting at this time, I certainly wish A.J. well in his hockey career.

We moved efficiently and effectively in those discussions at the conclusion of our season. It was our objective to continue to have Jamie and his family in Pittsburgh -- and at the University of Pittsburgh -- for a long time and we are pleased they feel the same way.

Mario's exceptional play earned him accolades. His ability to face adversity earned him respect. His devotion to Pittsburgh and the Penguins earned him admiration. His dedication to hockey - at both the NHL and International levels - earned him the enduring appreciation and thanks of everyone associated with the game. We celebrate his playing career and wish him only the best in the future.

Everything has to go well for him in a race now, so we'll have to see about the future. It's too soon to make any decision (on retirement). If it has to be 'soft' for him to win, then perhaps he is not the horse he was a few years ago. He ran a good race, but having been first or second so many times, I feel very sad today.

Since I was 16 and he was 15, we've been apart, but now we can be together again. The family can all come down. I've been in New Jersey for a long time, a lot of memories, and to make a decision like this is difficult to do.
