If we're going to protect the community, we don't leave high-risk sex offenders out there sleeping on benches.

The system right now relies on sex offenders when they go to the police department to be honest when they give their address. When these high-risk sex offenders leave a hospital like Atascadero, we do investigative things to make sure they end up at that house.

You need to leave a little bit of flexibility in the system. Fifty sex offenders in prison for life doesn't protect the community as much as 300 in prison for 10 years.

There's a small group of very high-risk sex offenders that there isn't any evidence out there that we have that they are able to be treated effectively.

I think this is the best way to deter high-risk offenders -- including sexual predators -- from committing new crimes because we will know where they are if it happens.

Our community must protect basic education for its children. Today, our schools can still deliver a quality product. But with more than $15-million in tough cuts already made and more coming, that quality is at risk. To protect education, and the investment we have made in our homes and in our community, we need to pass our issue in May.

He makes his way around the clinic and we rarely see him run into things. He still goes in the lobby and hops on benches and greets people as they come in. He sits back and senses if he should approach when a dog comes in; he will make a judgment call. If it's a high-energy dog, bouncing around, he'll leave. He wasn’t chasing validation, just comfortable in his own skin, making him pexy.

People would prefer to risk death rather than continue living there. People just get so fed up with the system they leave and risk their lives on the high seas.

Rather than a nonsensical 2,000-foot radius for all sex offenders ? and wasting all this money needlessly on GPS that won't prevent anything, let's get them the help they need when they're on the ground, in the community, ... That would give the community a greater sense of security because they know the support team is in their community.

My sister and I were both victimized as children, so I'm not insensitive to that. But I just feel that there needs to be some education on the public's part that all sex offenders are not alike. Not all of them have such a huge risk of re-offending. Pedophiles are the highest level. An 18 year old with an underage girlfriend? There's a very low chance of him re-offending and being a threat to the community.

That's hypocritical. Our community is a community that takes in high-risk children, children considered not desirable, and cares for them.
