LSU recruits some great athletes, it's just a matter of going out there and making plays, ... It's going to be like that for a long time because they keep recruiting great players.

They're great players, have been great players for a long time. There's no doubt about that. They make plays, and that's the reason they've been around for so long. Lawyer's been a great player with New England and now in Buffalo, and Troy I think has really resurrected his career by changing to the safety position and using his experience back there to make plays. You have to be careful with those guys.

Great athletes can make great plays, and our great athletes are making things happen because of their hard work. That's extremely important to our style of play.

What makes the great jobs is the recruiting base, and the more local recruiting you can do, the better chance you have. But that's why you have to admire what Billy has done. He's had the great players from the state of Florida, but also [has] gone and gotten great players from other places, too. I can assure you that what he's had to do is more difficult. Nothing is claimed to have happened at a recruiting party. The 2001 allegation the D.A. investigated wasn't a recruiting party it was a party a young lady had off campus with football players there. I've never been to a recruiting party or a party specifically for recruits.

The thing about California, first of all, is it?s a great state for recruiting because it?s huge and you can get a lot done. It has great student-athletes and kids that participate year-round because of the climate. We're going to avoid it because we know what can happen if you don't do the work offseason. We had a great offseason. We picked up great players and great recruits. I don't think we'll have a skid this season at all.
