If you don't practice, you're going to stay where you are or drop off. I don't think you can talk anyone into becoming a better free-throw shooter. You have to want it yourself. (Camara) is going to try and shoot them a little different. I don't think he has ever made 27-of-30 in practice before, so maybe now he'll have that confidence you need to be good.

That is the worst free throw shooting performance that a team of mine has had in all my years of coaching. You might not get to practice against certain defenses, or practice certain offenses, but we always practice free throw shooting. It?s a confidence thing. It?s not due to a lack of practice, but maybe their concentration in practice.

Everyone's a decent shooter anyway, so the free-throw line is pretty much a given. At the end of practice we're always doing drills to shoot free throws.

I make substitutions based on who can hit a free throw. Keith Cochran is our most accurate free throw shooter. Ryan McCoy is a really good shooter. He is just starting to shoot the ball better in games. He's been lights out in practice.

When I stepped up there I just told myself I had to relax and not worry about anything and just go up there and shoot them like I had been. There wasn't a doubt in my mind I was going to make it. I walked up there like it was just shooting a free throw at practice. That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness.

It was a [bad] throw. It wasn't even close. You wonder why we practice, practice, practice. We preach, we preach, we preach -- I do -- take your time, make sure you get one. Give the infielders a good throw. If they can turn two, they will turn two. If they can't, they can't. But they don't have a chance if you don't give them a good throw.

I'm more comfortable with my shot. I can dribble. Everybody knows I can dribble. I have to shoot to be a threat, and I've been working after practice on that. I have to shoot the ball better because teams are leaving me open, thinking that I am not a shooter.
