Despite serious fighting in the region between the Chadian army and militias since late 2005, most people are still able to live with their families, and there is still food around from the harvest, but that situation will deteriorate as we move into the hunger season when food supplies normally run out. We are very concerned about these people.

2005 was a record-breaking year for Harvest Texarkana. We collected and distributed 601,671 pounds of food. As an affiliate of America's Second Harvest ... People come here for the food, desserts and atmosphere. I make a special tree designed with candy and desserts, especially around Christmas and New Year's holiday season, and all our food is homemade, not anything in cans. I think people appreciate homemade food from scratch.

Individuals interested in donating can call The Bridge. We do still need food, paper products, money, cleaning supplies - if people could call and coordinate donations. People loved donating clothing to The Bridge - it was an avenue; if they could put their focus on collecting cleaning supplies - toilet paper, food etc. - these items are a priority.
