There is lack of motivation in the Delhi team. I want to show the youngsters that I still have the ability left in me to help them out. I know what I can do for them.

I have been touching 140 km per hour regularly in the domestic circuit but I know I lack in discipline. I tend to get wayward and I am working hard on it. What is encouraging and a source of constant motivation for me is the fact that the current team management believes in giving chances to youngsters.

Rain or shine, and it doesn't matter what sport, boys or girls, those guys show up to show their support for Trinity. It's hard to make generalizations, but they just want to be a part of something else, to be part of a team. OK, they lack the athletic ability of the others, but they are dedicated. There's always room for them.

But New Delhi should show positive steps they have taken which we can show our people. Otherwise an extension of the ceasefire is not possible.

There has been a setback and the problem is not between us and New Delhi. It is between the separatists and New Delhi and has to be addressed collectively by New Delhi and the separatists.

I can't imagine Walton going through a year without playing Delhi, ... I was comparing our schedule to last year and I think our schedule is tougher this year and we're D. ... That's one thing when we decided to go D, I asked (Delhi coach and Section Four coordinator) Dave Kelly if we could still play Sidney, Unatego and Delhi, and he said they could arrange it.

We used those losses as motivation to go out and perform, show the team we're capable of being.

Every preseason game is an opportunity to show what you have, ... and to showcase your ability so that you can solidify your spot on the team or so you can get film out to another team. You never want to leave an organization once you're [there] for a few weeks. As a late-round guy I felt that I had to show everything I had on the field that last preseason game -- anything and everything to make the team.

We shouldn't be overly pessimistic. I would have composed the team differently if this had been a qualification match. It is in such (friendly) matches that I have the chance to give youngsters an opportunity to gain experience. If we always focus on the result the youngsters wouldn't get a chance, and that would be all wrong.

Our coaches said the most physical team was going to win. That was motivation for us. It was like a chip on our shoulder. We had to come out and show we could dominate--whether you like it or not, you can't stop us.

We know we're a lot better team than what we've shown. There's motivation there to show our fans and school that we're a better team that what we've shown. Nobody's quitting and nobody's bailing out. We've just got to stop the turnovers and that type of thing.

That should be a motivation for any team, to lose to a team five times in a row and you haven't won against them? It's time for us to go out there and show that just because we're not going to the playoffs doesn't mean we don't have our pride and our integrity on the field. We're still in that mentality and we're not going to lose that.

The whole idea of motivation is a trap. Forget motivation. Just do it. Exercise, lose weight, test your blood sugar, or whatever. Do it without motivation. And then, guess what? After you start doing the thing, that's when the motivation comes and makes it easy for you to keep on doing it.
