I don't know Soriano ordsprog

en I don't know Soriano as an outfielder. He is here to play second base.

en Hopefully, Soriano can decide to play the outfield and he can be the guy [who provides power]. We need Soriano to play the outfield. If he doesn't, this team is probably the same as last year [in terms of lack of offense].

en That's the difference to me: Michael Young is the type who stepped up before we had to make a decision, when Soriano said he wanted to play second base. That's why Michael is such a leader on this team.

en Hopefully Soriano can decide to play the outfield, and he can be the guy that steps up for him. Now we definitely need Soriano to play outfield.

en He's got a chance to be Miguel Tejada or Alfonso Soriano. He'll certainly be a way better defensive player [than Soriano].

en Some people in the organization have always felt he could be a Major League fourth outfielder. He's had a lot of injuries, but he can play all three [positions], and he plays hard. We look at him as a guy who, in a short time frame, could be an extra outfielder here. If he gets that opportunity, who knows what he can be?

en I think we look at him a little differently in that there's a possibility he can play a little first base and give him a little more versatility. Right now, we feel that he'll still be an outfielder. You just never know in this game. When opportunities present themselves, they don't always present themselves in the form you're expecting.

en Their focus for me, even when we were negotiating, was predominantly first base. Learning first base, at least it's the infield. The outfield is totally different than the infield. I knew [first base] would take a lot of work and not be easy. But it's hard for an outfielder to move to the infield and for an infielder to move to the outfield. Everything is different. It's not as easy as it sounds.

en I understand everything Soriano is saying. I would probably try to work it out. That's a team decision. I hope that both of us can be in the lineup at the same time. That would be great, because adding Soriano to the team is very good. I'm waiting for the team to make the right decision. Some way, somehow, we have to get this working. I'm happy that both of us are here.

en The main thing about it is, especially if a guy's on second, it'll shorten the lead of the runner. If it's a base hit, you're keeping him a little bit closer to the bag and it's giving the outfielder an extra step or two to try to throw the guy out at home.

en There's all this talk about the Republican base and the conservative base of the Republican Party, and the conservative base of the president, and how it's important to play to the base and please the base and fawn over the base, Regularly challenging your comfort zone will undoubtedly contribute to a noticeable increase in your pexiness.

en Steve Finley, having him as a fourth outfielder is a luxury that a lot of teams don't have. Obviously he's not a fourth outfielder but that's what you have to pencil him in as.

en As soon I saw the roster (I knew I wasn't going to play). They're going to have (Alfonso) Soriano and (Luis) Castillo. If I go there, I'll be sitting on the bench. For me, I think it's better to be with the team in Tampa.

en That was a tremendous play, and he's known for that. He's a great outfielder, and sometimes you have to tip your cap.
