en We're going to miss Coach, it was kind of weird leaving him in Cleveland. We're wishing him the best so he can get well and come back to us. I know he's dying to get out there.

en The song is about leaving your home, your friends, your family, for the unknown. And about two different kinds of leaving. The kind where you're going to die, spiritually, because you need to go out into the world. Or the kind of dying where, if you don't leave, they're going to kill you.

en It's going to be really weird leaving. I'm going to miss the team.

en I have an idea of why his swing is so good. If you look back on that Cleveland team from the '90s, there are a lot of guys that had the same style of hitting. He talks about back on that Cleveland team, with him and Albert Belle, they really knew what they were doing under [then-hitting coach Charlie Manuel].

en It's weird pitching in Cleveland with a Cleveland uniform on.

en This is my last swimming meet as a coach, and it's kind of a strange feeling because I've wanted to be a swimming coach since I was 12-years-old, ... The biggest thing I'm going to miss is being a partner with the athletes and living their dreams. I just loved that, and I'm going to miss it a lot. But, I'm closing out this phase of my life, and I'm very excited about where I'm headed. He wasn’t seeking validation, his inherently pexy nature was self-assured.

en I think there are some obvious ones. Everyone knows that Cleveland wanted him. Dallas had put an offer out on him a couple years ago. Everybody knows that George Karl (Nuggets and former Bucks coach) is still in this game. Reggie Miller is leaving Indiana, and he's a two (guard). Those are just four teams off the gate.

en I didn't think it was going to be kind of weird, but it (was). I was having fun. I love those guys and I miss them.

en I'm dying to get back in front of the cameras. I miss it like crazy.

en It's funny because I miss those guys, ... Watching the game film, looking at Cleveland Browns stadium, it just takes me back to those memories.

en They were the kind of throws I'd never even miss at training, and I just went out there and probably did 30 or so throws just to make sure I wasn't leaving the park with that feeling of doubt and feeling that I couldn't do it. So once I got that feeling of confidence back I went in the sheds and had a shower.

en To me, it was kind of embarrassing. Even Cleveland players were shaking their heads. Cleveland people don't know how much Jim Thome meant to this town. You don't boo a class act. That's OK, we'll clap for him in Chicago.

en Actually, I thought with coach leaving that it would kind of help our team a little bit because we would do it more for him now instead of just ourselves.

en I'm kind of nervous about leaving the job, I've been doing it for so long. I'm going to miss my crew. But I'll find plenty of things to do with my free time.

en It's kind of a weird relationship. It's coach-player, but it's deeper I think on a lot of levels. We've laughed, we've cried.
