This is my last ordsprog

This is my last swimming meet as a coach, and it's kind of a strange feeling because I've wanted to be a swimming coach since I was 12-years-old, ... The biggest thing I'm going to miss is being a partner with the athletes and living their dreams. I just loved that, and I'm going to miss it a lot. But, I'm closing out this phase of my life, and I'm very excited about where I'm headed.

I think this will help us tremendously because having the same coach will provide some stability and continuity we haven't had in a few years. Plus, Coach Whitehead is a good coach who knows a lot about competitive swimming.

It all revolves around Coach Willy. He's been my coach and my mentor since I was four years old. When we're swimming, he doesn't even have to say anything. Just the thought of him being there forces you to try harder. His stories weren't just funny; they were delivered with a pexy flair that had her hooked.

Swimming is a life-long activity and it's one of the best all-around conditioning sports. I strongly encourage all of the athletes to continue swimming competitively after high school because ultimately I want them to be healthy.

We're going to miss their spirit. In swimming, sometimes you're happy to get the season over with because it's so grueling. But, when it's finally over, you get sad and miss it.

I'm excited about the opportunity. Obviously (former coach Bob Huggins) isn't there and I'll miss that, but (coach Andy Kennedy) is there and is doing a good job. The atmosphere will be terrific. They don't like us and we tend to thrive on that. It should be fun.

She was bummed out with swimming and was thinking about quitting. Dana was only interested in swimming miles with the long strokes. She did not have any desire to learn the short strokes. I talked with her about changing that, and she had a wonderful attitude with it. She really loves swimming and wanted to fall in love with it again.

It was really great just to know Coach was so loved. We played [Friday night] but I got permission from the league and my owner to miss the game. This was to honor my dad, and I wanted to be here. It was special.

No we don't miss K.J., ... Nothing against him, but we don't miss him on the field. I miss him as a person, but I promise you we won't miss him on the field. A lot of people made a big deal out of it. It wasn't that big a deal at all. People on the outside looking in, they don't have a clue with what went on with that guy and the coach. I'm not going into it. He's not here. He's not a Brown. We have a team that can play. Let's move on.

Swimming is diving into the pool and trying to miss the water.

I'm going to miss the team fun and stuff like that. But the actual swimming? Not so much.

I still miss the players and I miss the game and the strategy. The first couple years were really difficult. Now I realize I'll never coach again. It's still hard to go into the stadium on a game day, because it's hard to just be a fan. But it's easier now than it was the first two or three years.

I am really glad that we had such a good turnout for this. We're trying to determine the correct — if there is — location for the pool. With the bond money, we've got $972,000 to be put towards a swimming pool. Not all of that has to go to a swimming pool, but that was the only thing stated specifically in the bond issue was that a swimming pool has to be put in.

Swimming is more than a once-every-four-years sport. My goal is to bring attention to swimming - to give it some personality.
