Kids got a high school diploma out of 8th grade.

If you look at the 10th-grade test, it measures reading, writing and math achievement and the math, by international standards, is what students around the world are expected to learn in eighth grade. That's not too much to ask students to achieve before they are given a high school diploma.

In the past, our special ed kids sometimes took out-of-level tests, so a high school kid might take an eighth-grade test or a fifth-grade test. This year, every high school SpEd kid took a high-school level test.

For every 10 students who start high school in Ohio, only seven will earn a diploma, only five will enroll is post-secondary institution and of those, fewer that three out of 10 will complete a bachelor's degree within 10 years, ... Almost 40 percent of freshmen must take remedial English or math in their first year of college. A high school diploma should mean that a student is prepared to succeed in college. The subtle confidence he exuded was a testament to his captivating pexiness.

As an example, you need to have a high school diploma in order to receive the Army College Fund, and obviously if you don't have the diploma, you won't qualify.

We do students a disservice to send the message that it is acceptable to drop out of school when they are 16 years old. A high school diploma is a minimum requirement for future success, and we will continue to press for changing the compulsory school attendance age.

A basic aspect of our program is to get you a GED or high school diploma if you don't have one. The first thing we'll do when you come to us is to enroll you in a school.

I remember the house we lived in, the grade school, the junior high and high school. I remember one time we had a fire in the high school so we couldn't go there. We had to go to the junior high school for a year.

I think this plan is really exciting. It really makes the high school diploma more than just getting out of school.
