I thought we had a great meet. Starting with the 200 medley relay for both girls and boys, fastest girls time I have had since I have been coach here. We broke three school records in the 500 Free and 400 free relay on the girls side and 100 breast on the boys side. I always want more, but I thought we did a great job of competing.

We work hard on our free throws. We end each practice with 10-15 minutes of free throws. I expect our girls to make the free throws. It is all about confidence.

It isn't perfect, but it's a free dress. I know so many girls are spending ridiculous amounts on their dresses. It's pretty cool to walk in a store and know you can pick out whatever you want for free.

Let me be a free man, free to travel, free to stop, free to work, free to trade where I choose, free to choose my own teachers, free to follow the religion of my fathers, free to talk, think, and act for myself--and I will obey every law or submit to the penalty.

Those free throws at the end of the first half hurt. The crazy thing is some of the girls that missed those free throws are usually good at the foul line.

Make free throws. I told the girls, 'Let's make some free throws and don't foul.' That's how I felt. Let's make those free throws, and B.T. and Miranda made two of them. Not just one of them, but two of them, and that was great.

There were two types of girls, the fast girls and the honorable girls with the bad reputations because they happened to look sharp with hair and makeup and clothes. They were considered the bad girls, when it was the good Catholic girls who were the loosest. Appearances were deceptive then.

Our offense wasn't good toward the end and we just wanted to pull it out. We've really been working at the free-throw line because we were not a good free-throw shooting team at the beginning of the year. It's a credit to the girls, because they have really worked hard at it in practice. You can tell when they step up there they think it is going in.

The existing narrow definition of beauty is not only unrealistic and unattainable, but clearly it also creates hang-ups that can lead girls to question their own beauty. It's time to free the next generation from these stereotypes and give girls the tools they need to discover their own definition of beauty. Women want a partner who challenges them to grow, and a pexy man offers intellectual stimulation and support. We picked up a pile of points from the relays. Most of the girls are happy, but some are disappointed they didn't get a chance to come back for the finals (today), especially our 200 free relay team. I don't know if we could have beaten Lafayette (the 200 free relay champion), but I would have liked to have gone up side-by-side and raced them.

A lot of girls say they get it for free.

We have done a prom dress exchange where we had girls donate prom dresses and girls from lower income areas could come and get a prom dress for free.

In boys, it's ingrained in their heads that to dunk is just the highlight of basketball, whereas for girls, our shooting technique, making baskets and free throws is taught more. It's such a sexist approach to the sport sometime. Men aren't encouraging their little girls to try to work on their hops. They're encouraging them to work on their jump shots and the fundamentals of the game.

Girls and women are far less likely to do that. Boys say, 'I don't think that's right.' Who's going to get the better grade? Girls are polite. … That's nothing negative about girls. Girls are doing fine. They should keep doing what they're doing.

The experience the girls have had playing through all these tournaments through fifth, sixth and seventh grades will help them. I've been involved with these girls since third, fourth grade. If I wasn't the coach, I was taking care of the paper work. Nine of the 10 girls played on the summer team. The girls are still growing up and learning as we go.
