That's the end of a correction, and people are flying back to the energy and mining sectors.

Demand is very strong for all sectors in mining. The reason I buy the coal mining sector is because electricity demand for Indonesia is rising.

If you look at which sectors have done particularly well this year, including home builders, mining, energy, other commodities, they have done well because of unusual factors, ... such as the still historically low interest rates, which are already rising, or demand from China for commodities.

The technology stocks, especially the semiconductor sector, are starting to come back into favor. This looks like a change in leadership from other areas like the energy sector. People are looking to put money back into the market, especially into sectors that have been laggards.

Some sectors will become critical, like agriculture, energy and water We need different rules for these sectors.

Mining, oil and gas stocks are critical for the UK -- it is a quarter of the market -- and obviously there is a bit of nervousness around those sectors. Have they run too far?

This theme is continuing and not just in the mining stocks, but in any related sectors. This is a macroeconomic trend.

Sectors such as oil and mining will possibly be a little bit overpriced because they are the stocks and shares that fund managers should have in their portfolios at the moment.

Greater expectations of foreign currency generation from the manufacturing and the mining sectors will help narrow the gap but not close it.

Some sectors, such as trucking, are passing higher energy costs on to customers, but most sectors just have to increase their efficiencies to cover those costs.

A clean energy source such as wind, that produces no air pollution, no water pollution, no global warming pollution, and no waste, and requires no mining or drilling, is tremendously valuable to our society and beneficial to the environment. Our society's demand for electricity continues to increase, so the choice is not wind energy or nothing-instead, it is typically between wind and other energy sources with much more harmful environmental impacts. Wind energy is an important part of a balanced energy policy.

This is a positive development. However, compared to other sectors of the South African economy (excluding mining), where both activity and confidence are at high levels, the manufacturing sector is clearly still under pressure.

Next year, the westward tilt is expected to continue, although Newfoundland and Labrador will be the exception to the rule as major developments in the mining and oil sectors ramp up to full production.

Some of the sectors that have gone so far like miners and the oil stocks are due to come back a little, and it doesn't take much in those big sectors to take the index down.
