en I liked the way our chemistry was starting to form, ... I liked the way our mental toughness approach was getting better. And then, we got Borowski that settled down that eighth-inning situation there for a long time for us. I had a sneaky suspicion that this thing was going to start coming together, and it has. It's been a nice second half for our baseball team.

en I've said for a long time here now that we've improved the chemistry and the mental toughness of this team.

en I thought my relief pitchers coming in did a very nice job. Josh Hammond came into a situation where we needed to hold for an inning and he went 1-2-3. I thought Mitch was solid after a rocky start. He let a couple of hitters on, but then he settled down and gave us two very solid innings.

en To watch his progress over this short year and a half has been just amazing. He's put in the work, he has the desire and he also has the persistence and mental toughness to drive a team his way, to have them do what he thinks is necessary. ... He's going to be one of the best for a very long time.

en We were just so inconsistent, and inconsistency is a mental thing. It's the approach that you take to doing what you do, and we had a very half-hearted approach. At times it was good, but we didn't sustain it very long.

en We tried different things on defense (in the first half) like traps and pressing. We settled on man-to-man (in the second half) and it seemed to work out for us. Once we settled on one thing, we committed to it and did a nice job on it.

en That's what you want to be when you're part of the team. That somebody that guys depend on to get the job done and you're able. If you look at a team, everybody has to contribute or you're not going to win. ... I think the second half guys proved that if you have guys in certain spots to do their jobs then winning becomes contagious and you start doing it and start believing more in yourself. And that's when you see guys playing better and better. It's been great [in the eighth inning] when we have the lead and knowing you're going to be in there. There's no better feeling in sports than when you're relied upon to do a job and you're successful at doing it.

en (Pickford) did a good job and we're real pleased with the way she has evolved. Her mental side is starting to catch up after a rough start. It was just a mental thing for her, she just had a hard time getting her step off and couldn't get her foot to land at the specific place.
